REPAIR TECHNICIAN
Position Summary
The Reciprocating Repair Technician is responsible for disassembling, inspecting, and assembling compressor components while maintaining close tolerances and adhering to CECO’s safety policies and quality standards. This position also involves operating various equipment, tools, and instruments in a safe and efficient manner.
Position Key Accountabilities:
- Operates all equipment and tools with the utmost attention to safety and professionalism.
- Reads and interprets mechanical drawings and prints to ensure accurate assembly and inspection of components.
- Disassembles compressor components, identifies wear and damage, and prepares parts for reassembly.
- Uses common hand tools and precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
- Assembles various compressor components with precision, maintaining required tolerances.
- Operates forklifts, overhead cranes hydraulic presses, and other equipment as needed.
- Applies basic rigging skills to safely maneuver parts and assemblies.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area while adhering to all CECO safety policies.
- Supports a team–focused work environment and communicates effectively with team members.
- Other duties as assigned.
Certifications/Skills:
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Have a valid driver’s license.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools and shop equipment.
- Experience using calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators to ensure precision.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and interpret tolerances.
- Forklift and crane operation experience preferred.
- Additional experience in manual machining equipment such as lathes, mills, surface grinders, and drill presses. Experience in welding, fabrication, or carpentry is a plus.
Minimum Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Experience:
Experience working with mechanical components and tools in an industrial or shop environment is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 25 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Regular on–time physical attendance is required.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time and throughout the day in a machine shop environment.
- Duties require verbal communication abilities, visual acuity, accuracy in reading data, and manual coordination and dexterity in handling items and operation of equipment.
